I'm John Batscher speaking with my colleague Andrea Stricker, the Deputy Director of the

Nonproliferation and Bio-Defense Program at the Foundation for the Defense of democracies.

We're looking at a report.

Of August 2024, of the status of the several moving stories with regard the suspect nuclear

weapons program in the Islamic Republic of Iran that is now in active warfare with our ally

Israel and therefore the peace of the Middle East. Iran is either racing to

build a weapon,

tasing, taunting, provoking the IAA

and the West about its ability to produce a weapon,

or unknown.

So Andrea, what is an undeclared site? What do we believe is happening at an undeclared site?

Why is that an issue here?

Thank you, John. The IE is investigating Iran for potential nuclear weapons work and activities that they hadn't declared,

mostly involving the pre-2003 period when Iran had a robust nuclear weapons

program. Specifically it's looking at four different sites and still has

questions about two of the sites. And the IAS found Iran in violation of its safeguards

obligation to declare the activities,

the production of nuclear material that relate to nuclear weapons.

So in this essence, it's violating its safeguards agreement.

And notably, the IA came to those conclusions

without any cooperation from Iran.
