This is CBSI in the World. I'm John Batchewith, my colleague Conrad Black, distinguished biographer

and writing in the National Post about the embryo now scandal of Chinese brutality towards

the people of Canada. They're representatives, the families of the representatives, and

we do not know how much more. It's unclear at this point because the Prime Minister has

appointed a distinguished member of the Canadian community who has links to the Prime Minister's

family. And therefore, immediately it's suggestive that this was a friend of the family, not

someone who's going to take a hard look at the conduct of the government, not the Prime Minister,

the government. There are other questions about the Prime Minister, but right now it's

an attack on the government. And Conrad, you have thoughts about what is to be done. My first

would be that old saw sunlight is terrific. Let's get to sunlight. Do the Canadian people

demand more information now in public about the level of attack on their representatives?

I would say that there is a widespread view in this country and no dissent from it. So

those who are not clamoring for it are just those people who don't get particularly preoccupied

with public policy or political issues. I mean, Canadians are in the most demonstrative

people, so it takes a real crisis to stir them up. But the large community of people who are

well informed citizens who want the country to be run properly and don't want skilled

degree in government, certainly don't want any foreigners influencing our political process.

We're getting, I would say, increasingly concerned, not only at the antics of the Chinese,

but also as we've been talking about, that they've rather ham handed and not all together

credible way in which the government of this country has been trying to carry out what

it purports to recognize as its duty to reassure the country convincingly that they have matters

in hand, everything has been handled appropriately. I mean, around the edges of this, there is
