It is a pleasure to speak to Brian Yablonsky, the CEO of Perk, the property environment and research center in Boseman, Montana, which is adjacent to Yellowstone Park, although you have to drive a bit.

But this is Montana. You go to the city of Levingston and turn right and you head down the Paradise Valley and you'll come to Yellowstone.

There are bears in Yellowstone, thankfully the tourists look for them.

But there's an episode where one of our heroes comes across two tourists who are not long for this world.

They've been seeking shelter from the bear and they have the foolish idea that if they hang over a cliff, the bear will leave them alone.

Well, gravity doesn't. However, the bear then charges our hero who shoots him.

What happens then, Brian? What's the law of shooting a grizzly bear?

Well, so the grizzly bear is a listed species on the endangered species list.

So there's all kinds of hell if you shoot a grizzly bear because they are considered one of the protected animals that are moving through the Yellowstone ecosystem.

And there's actually a great quote. The sheriff in the show shows up and he tells John Dutton because this because this bear has been shot on the Dutton ranch that this was the sheriff's as he says when someone kills a bear, 10,000 vegans and letters to their cops and letters to their congressman.

Yes, what we have here is a dead bear and a man who saved his life shooting him. Is that a debate?

It's not, but it's complicated, right? I mean, the federal government is going to come in the fish and wildlife services going to come in and investigate to ensure it was truly in self defense and wasn't some kind of preemptive shooting.

But it happens out here. I mean, we have people, we have grizzly bears that are killed running into hunters and surprise and hunter and self defense and the federal government will have to have to investigate it.

I think the bigger issue for wildlife like grizzly bears and wolves out here are if the with the federal jurisdiction comes regulation comes economic potentially economic constraint.

And so for folks around the country, the danger species acts a wonderful thing. It protects some of this wildlife that we all love.
