Good afternoon, football fans from Norman, Oklahoma, the home of the Oklahoma Sooners.

It's here. It has arrived after the longest wait between two football games in the history of America.

But now it has come on the scene. It's a finality.

Well, this is it. This is the big one.

And as somebody said, the countdown has begun,

and in 15 minutes there will be a shootout at the OK corral.

The tension, well, it's unbelievable.

It's indescribable.

There's no way to tell you how the cauldron is boiling

at Norman, Oklahoma this afternoon.

What a picture and what a setting for one of the greatest college football games of the century,

no doubt about it.

So much has been written, so much has been said that it's just impossible to come up with anything new.

Everything is just a repeat, a rehash, a warm-up of things that have already

been said and done. It's a cloudy day here in Norman. It's 49 degrees. The sun was out

briefly this morning, but now it's back under a heavy overcast and likely will not show itself

again this afternoon. Not even when Bob Devaney walks on the field, I fear.

49 degrees, the wind is out of the southwest at 16 miles an hour, and that when will be a factor here today.

It's out of the southwest, which is the open end of this stadium. This is a horseshoe closed at the north, open at the south. Now they have bleachers

at the south end of our right, but those bleachers come up only about half as high as the

outside of this stadium, that is the horseshoe portion of the stadium. So the wind will definitely

be a factor coming in for this open end. Of course, there has been speculation that the wind will hurt Nebraska more than it will Oklahoma,
