This afternoon, the sixth game of the 1962 World Series.

And it'll be Whitey Ford against Billy Pierce.

And I'm sure that that comes as no news to anybody, because you talk about stories being filed out of San Francisco during the rain we had here.

Everybody kept wondering whether there would be a psychological edge, whether the pitching changes would stay the same, would they change?

But here they are this afternoon, and just as both managers stated, Wydie Ford for the Yankees and Billy Pierce for the San Francisco

on a beautiful afternoon here in San Francisco.

The sun is out very bright here.

The temperature, around 65.

I expected to go into the middle 70s as the afternoon goes on, and it should be a beautiful

day for baseball here at Candlestick Park.

Neither ball club took batting practice.

Both ball clubs took infield practice, and those outfielders really paying attention to the skip of the ball off the infield and the outfield grass.

Bear in mind that the infield grass has been cut, but it is slow.

Still a bit damp.

The dirt part of the infield is in great shape.

The outfield is still a bit soggy and behind home plate and near both dugouts is still

a bit wet.

But the feel is in a good condition.
