So first up we've got our producer John Joseph Adams.

He's the editor of Light Speed and Nightmare magazines and also the series editor of Best American

Science Fiction and Fantasy.

He's also edited many other anthologies, including the recent books Wastelands too, Operation

Arcana, and the end has come.

And as you might guess, he's also the editor of John Joseph Adams books. So John welcome back.

Good to be here as always. And also joining us today is Bruce Nichols.

He's a senior vice president and publisher at

Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt's trade division where for the past seven years he's

overseeing the adult publishing program. Prior to that he was a vice president and

publisher of the Collins imprint at Harper Collins and he also spent many years as a non-fiction editor at Simon and Schuster.

Okay, so let's start off with Bruce and have you just tell us a bit about how you got started in book publishing?

Well, that goes back many years, which will reveal my age, but when I graduated college in the mid 1980s I had no idea what to do with myself

so I thought I would get a temporary job in Boston at Little Brown where they had a college division and I really liked
