Good afternoon later than, Mr. Sonny Wakeman speaking from Griffith Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Once more, baseball's greatest artists are assembled before us,

the game in which in the short space of five years has become recognized as the outstanding contest of the national pastime.

No better testimonial to the success of this All-Star Games can be offered and the

enthusiasm of fans gathered here in Griffith Stadium this afternoon.

To then, the game is the culmination of a real fan's dream.

Five years ago, they suggested that the hardest hitters, the swiftest pictures, and the

nimblest defensive men in the American League to be matched against their rivals in the national on the same diamond on the same day would have been regarded as fantastic.

Yet today each of those stars is out there in the field and thanks to the officials of both leagues, the players and the fans.
