Summary

In January of 1999, 30 year old Belinda Temple, who was eight months pregnant, was found shot to death in her closet in Katy, Texas. Her husband, David Temple, was tried and convicted twice for the murder of his pregnant wife. But when the jury at his second trial in 2019 became deadlocked in the punishment phase, a mistrial was declared. David appealed, and the long wait for resentencing began. This is an update on Episodes 127 & 128: The Belinda Temple Case.

Since then, there have been some more twists.

One in particular is that a main witness for the prosecution, Belinda's best friend,

Tammy Harlan, was involved in a hit-and-run that cost a young man on a bicycle his life.

An anonymous tipster called in naming Tammy as the one who killed the 19-year-old victim,

0:58.0

David Grottberg, and said that she was under the influence at the time.

1:03.1

When Tammy was brought in for questioning, she admitted to drinking some wine that night

1:07.3

and said she thought she had had a stop sign.

1:10.4

After a full investigation, Tammy was indicted in June 2020 for failing to stop and render

1:15.9

aid, but more importantly, for manslaughter.

1:20.3

As with David Temple's recentencing hearing, Tammy's trial was on hold for the pandemic.

1:25.9

Our latest continuance was granted in April 2003, but hopefully she will stand trial

1:30.9

soon for the death of David Grottberg.

1:34.7

David Temple's hearing was also held in April of 2003, but luckily, Tammy's alleged crimes

had no bearing on the testimony.
