This is the Baymont podcast with Marty Solomon. I'm his co-host, Brent Billings. Welcome to the end of session 4. Today we have our usual capstone conversation, including our journey through the remainder of scripture and reviewing the entirety thereof.

0:25.0

The entirety thereof. That's right. We have the whole Bible to review today. We're going to try to do this in less than an hour and 20 minutes. That's really cool.

0:34.0

Okay. All right. I'm going to try not to break a new record on the call up. But we this is good. We had somebody on our slack workspace. Right. Hey Brent, throw our slack works, work space. Sign up into the show notes.

0:48.0

We were able to. Okay. Excellent. But we had somebody on our slack workspace just a few weeks ago. Right Brent? I was like, Hey, when are we going to do a review again? Because those reviews, I feel like I'm getting lost.

1:00.0

I feel like, and that's that's actually like it's bad that you feel like you're getting lost. But it's good that you are aware that you feel like you're getting lost.

1:08.0

Super important to understand the Bible and the biblical narrative, God's narrative as a whole to understand the whole story and how it works. Really important to be able to answer the question like who were God's people and what were they doing at that point in time?

1:20.0

Like where is the story going? I think a lot of us kind of like we we may have all the Bible books memorized. We may know where to find them. We might have our favorites who may even have portion of the scripture we're really familiar with. And maybe we like Torah or whatever. But we really didn't spend a whole lot of time in a little bit of kiss.

1:35.0

And we know who the prophets are, but we really don't spend a lot of time in the prophets and and we like some is but not proverbs and like we just kind of like we have this kind of, um, you know, up scotch awareness familiarity of the Bible and how it works. And we on this podcast want to give ourselves a working familiarity.

1:58.0

How does the story work? And when I taught this class in person, Brent, you can remember this. We would start every class with a review every single one every one of the classes because that's how familiar I want to just boom, boom, boom, I wanted to be on just just auto automatic.

2:14.0

So, um, so really we're going to come up with another episode next weekend. In fact, another episode today, the intro for session five. That's right. We put them on the same day.

2:24.0

But really, like if you could just listen to one episode over and over and over again, this would be the one. Sure. Right. Yeah. It gives you a more of working familiarity with with the text. Absolutely. Ask your point.

2:35.0

Um, so yeah, that's what we're going to do. So we're just going to jump right in. We're going to review the Bible and today in this episode, we're going to do the long review.

2:45.0

And our next episode later today, we're going to do the short version, but today's the long review. So we're going to go all the way back. We're going to start in the beginning. It's always good to begin in the beginning.

2:58.0

But Genesis, we had a section called the preface boy. It's been a long time since we did this.

3:01.0

Man, let go of it. It's going to be good. Yeah. See if I can do this. Yeah. We have a preface. Genesis chapter is one through 11. It's like the preface to God's narrative. In this preface, we were introducing really big ideas.

3:14.0

Big ideas like a presentation for today's episode. Great big idea. We have a presentation that you definitely will enjoy if you're able to pull that up. Open it up. Follow along. See how Marty does. Absolutely. It's a, it's in your show notes there. So it'll give you all the details that you can go back and look at.

3:30.0

So definitely enjoy using that tool there. But yeah, first of all, in chapters of Genesis, there's a preface invites us to these big ideas that creation is good. And God invites his creatures to trust, particularly human beings. He invites us as his partners to trust that story.

3:51.0

It's a good story. This is a story of a good creation. Trust that story. Trust the story. Trust that there is a good creation and that there's nothing more that you can just simply sit and sabbath rest. Know that you're loved. Know that you're valued. Know that you're accepted. All throughout the preface, we run into people that struggle to do that very thing.

4:11.0

But it introduces us to the big idea. And then the intro, the intro to God's narrative, chapters 12 through 50 of Genesis, we get introduced to the family of God, people like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, these are, these are characters that they're far from perfect. They struggle as much as you and I do.

4:29.0

But the one defining characteristic about this family of God is that they do know how to lean back into the story of God in the midst of all their mistakes in the midst of chapters where they don't trust the story, they're going to return and they're going to trust the story and it's going to lead them into things as simple as being able to step out in faith and as complex as forgiveness.

4:49.0

And that's how God sets up his narrative with the preface and the introduction and that leads us to his narrative, which we call a tale of two kingdoms.

4:58.0

We have two kingdoms, all threat scripture from Exodus to Revelation. We saw very strongly during Revelation, but we'll get there in a moment or a few moments.
