you figure out where exactly you might have unconscious biases in your work as

a teacher.

One of the first things people often hear when they begin working toward

becoming anti-racist teachers is that they need to do the work on themselves to

identify their own biases, examine them, and try to correct them. And while most

people are open to this idea in theory, they may not all have a clear idea of how

to go about doing that work. My guest today is going to help us with that.

Educator Hadrik Nichols, who you might know from the Small Bites equity series on

YouTube, has recently written a book called Finding Your Blind Spots, eight

guiding principles for overcoming implicit bias in teaching. She was a guest on

episode 140 of the podcast when we talked about some of the ways our well-

intended strategies for celebrating diversity can go wrong. Today she's going to

walk us through an exercise to help us find our own blind spots, our own
