This was a tragedy that was so easily avoided, the family knowing what the mother's boyfriend

was capable of, and she promised to keep him away from the little girl.

again, the mother puts the new boyfriend ahead of the needs and well-being of her own daughter,

which results in another innocent life stolen. September 2007, Denver, Colorado,

the body of a three-year-old girl was found strangled, stuffed in a duffel bag and buried under a log.

According to her mother, she had been abducted by two strangers while they were walking to a medical appointment.

The truth would soon be revealed that Nevaea's mother left her with a convicted sex offender who would ultimately take her life.

This is Nevae's story. Miriam Gallegos would tell the jury, Angel Montoya could only say, I didn't touch her, you have to believe me. But when she asked, why didn't you call 911? She told the jury, Gallegos said he was afraid. Police would point the finger at him. This is the part of the case that led to a mistrial in August when she told the jury Montoya was a registered sex offender in violation of the judge's order.

Nevea Janie Gallagos was born August 1st 2004 in Denver, Colorado, to teenage mother

Miriam Gallagos. As much as I could dig, I couldn't find any reference to Nevaea's
