I'm Erin Scala and here's our show today. Oh, One of the most tactile and relevant places that we can look for clues to the past is the graves of our ancestors.

It's a bit unsavory but buried with people who once lived thousands of years ago

lie the secrets of their lives and

cultures. For our purposes there is a lot of ancient wine history that comes to us

through tomb excavation and those brave enough to search for these secrets have been able to shine a light on how

wine influenced trade, politics, and even the cotidian existence of the everyday person.

It's a pretty interesting thing.

Some of the earliest pharaohs of Egypt were buried in ships

and sometimes fleets of ships.

We're going back pretty far here to about 5,000 years ago.

In Abidos, there are several ships in a funeral grouping,

sailing off to the Sun God.

On the ships you can find everything the Sun God.

On the ships you can find everything the leader may have wanted for in the afterlife,

and I mean everything.

If you had been his Somalier, you would have been sacrificed too, to accompany the guy and make sure that no sediment ever touched

his lips in heaven.

What?

Yep, all the attendance were sacrificed as well.
