Hello and welcome to the Battleground podcast with me Saul David and Patrick Bishop. Well, it's turning into a very good week for Ukraine, led by the astonishing news that, at long last,

Kiev has launched a sizable incursion into Russian territory the first time Russia has been invaded

by a foreign state since the Second World War. The details are still a little unclear, but it seems

that the attack began on Tuesday morning when an estimated 2,000 Ukrainian troops, supported by armor,

stormed across the border from their Sumi region into Russia's Kursk or blast.

By Wednesday, they'd captured the village of Sudzah, which controls Russia's gas

shipments to Europe. And as of today, Thursday, Kiev forces are said to have captured a

salient 10 miles deep and 6 wide, and that's according to Russian sources.

Although I've just seen an extra source, the popular Russian telegram channel, that goes even

further by releasing an updated map of Ukrainian territorial gains in Kursk Oblasts that indicates

the battle zone now spans an astonishing 430 square miles, which need us to say is a huge area. Well, I mean, it really is
