Summary

Hello and welcome to episode 184 of The Mindful Kind podcast.

I'm getting a little candid on this episode and sharing how I'm putting in an effort to be a more positive person. I tend to find it easy to focus unnecessarily on negative things and I'm trying a few different strategies to try to change that!

Here are my tips for cultivating more positivity:

  • Start conversations on positive notes
  • Exercise (even when you don't really feel like it)
  • Practise gratitude every day and in different ways
  • Treat yourself with joyful activities

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, so please come over to my Facebook: www.facebook.com/rachaelkable or Instagram: www.instagram.com/rachaelkable to let me know!

Don't forget to check out some of my other episodes about positivity!

  • Episode 160, Make a List of Things to Do For Fun
  • Episode 114, Outlooks on Life: Optimism
  • Episodes 65-69, The Positivity Series

On the previous two episodes of the Mindful Kind, I talked about cognitive distortions and how they can really persuade you into believing

inaccurate and often negative things. As I was researching these episodes and thinking about

how they show up in my own life and talking about them

0:55.1

with my partner deck, I started to realize how much I still tend to think in negative ways or

give more attention to negative things. It's so easy to focus on the things that aren't quite right

1:09.9

or little hiccups in the day, let alone

1:12.5

big things and harder challenges. Like I can easily feel frustrated when I hang the washing out on the

1:18.2

line and it rains and everything gets wet. Or I get overwhelmed by the number of emails I need to

1:25.1

reply to, even when it's really only going to take a solid

30 minutes or so to get through the mall. Or if I'm recording my podcast and it starts raining

1:34.3

and the recording picks up the sound of rain on the tin roof, and I have to stop and redo it,

1:41.0

that also feels quite frustrating. These are just the little things that I give a lot of

my energy too, and I'd really love to practice letting those things go a little more,

cultivating more positivity in my everyday life and being a more optimistic person in general.

I would love to smile and laugh easily, to feel less weighed down by negative
