Welcome, everybody to Soccer 101. My name is Taylor Rockwell. This week, we have an interesting, if not enjoyable topic.

It is on the top three of the Dread Index when it comes to things you can hear about when

playing soccer. It's the ACL injury. What is it? What is an ACL in general? How has the

treatment evolved over time? And why is it so common in this sport?

To talk it all out, Mr. Graham Ruthfin, who I believe I'm correct in saying has never had to have his ACL repaired. So kudos to you, Graham. Hello, Taylor Rockwell, you are correct.

I've never done my ACL. But in our pre-recording chat, I learned that you have done your ACL

before. So you're speaking, you have some

firsthand experience to draw upon here. I'm guessing that was a lovely, really enjoyable experience

for you. It was a very strange experience. Like to start there, I did it while playing soccer

on a grass field, so it's not turf's fault. But I turned as like my keeper collected a ball. I was shepherding it back. And I turned to kind of make the outrun. And I heard my knee pop three times. And it didn't hurt, but I heard those three pops. And I looked at the goalkeeper. And I said, did you hear that? And he said, I did hear that. So sat down, set myself out. And then like, it would intermittently hurt until about a week later

I was at a, like, an open-air drinking festival here in Virginia and turned the wrong way, and man,

did that thing go wrong, and I couldn't straighten my leg. It was a very, very, very rough one.

I would not recommend, and then, yeah, a long surgery followed.

I tore basically everything you can tear on your knee, did all the rehab, but have not since had any issues with that knee.

Although it does hurt when it rains.

So that's always a fun one and wasn't a myth in the end.

Graham, what's the worst injury you've had playing sport?

So I have broken my left wrist twice.

And it happened both times against the same player.

A guy called Liam Carr, who played for Sterling Albion and was the captain of the Scotland

School Boys team when I was at school.
