This is Comic Geek Speak, episode 1826, the return to New York Comic-Con.

Hey there, guys. This is Ian, and welcome one and all to the show. I am actually recording this first piece here two days before the beginning of New York Comic-Con. And I'm feeling a lot of emotions. I have not missed a New York Comic-Con. And I'm feeling a lot of emotions.

I have not missed a New York Comic-Con since it started in 2006.

And I stand here in 2021 now.

With the 15th, if I'm counting correctly, New York Comic-Con,

technically the 14th, but the 15th year of New York Comic-Con.

As last year, obviously, there was not an official New York Comic-Con, although there was a virtual one.

And I have not been to a convention since Pax East 2019 in February.

This is the longest I've gone without attending a convention of any sort.

Since I was in college.

I mean, I've been going to conventions since,

I think my sophomore year of college.

That was, Anime Boston was the first one that I headed to.

And then from there, started with the comic conventions and, you know, and all that.

And I can tell you that I miss it. I'm, I'm a little, I'm a little worried, obviously, just, you know,

with the state of the world and everything going the way it is. But I, I am also really looking forward to stepping back into

the Javitt Center for the first time since 2019. And I don't exactly know what I'm going to

get when I walk in. I'm attending with a professional badge, just, you know, to throw that out there.

I was able to sign up for one, and that's a four-day badge, so I will be there Thursday,

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I hope to get some conversation with friends of the comic geekspeak community, whether it be those tabling or

whether it be people that I happen to run into while at the con.
