Building a robust vocabulary is an essential part of any education.

The more words we know, the easier it is to absorb new ideas and navigate more complex texts and situations.

We all pick up new words incidentally all the time, inside and outside of school.

But if we approach vocabulary development intentionally, that growth will be exponential.

The same is true in our instructional planning.

Students will learn new words in our classes no matter what.

But if we're deliberate about giving them regular instructional opportunities to learn them,

they will learn so much more and as a result, they'll be more likely to do better with our course material overall.
