According to the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children,

47% of missing children are found in the first three hours. This statistic bumps up to 97% found after three days. That leaves 3% that are considered long-term missing, either to be found later

or destined to remain on missing persons' lists for decades to come.

Three days was all it would take for a family to be forever left grieving for a little girl

who was left in the care of her trusted stepmother.

August 2019, Gas City, Indiana. A 10-year-old girl is punished for stealing a sibling's charm bracelet and sent to her room, only to vanish, seemingly run away as she had done many times before. However, surveillance footage would not show Skylie leaving the home, and no trace of the personal items she had allegedly taken with her could be found. But then investigators would find some troubling social media posts by the girl's stepmother,

which would be the catalyst of the horrors they would find in the family's garden shed.
