We would like to start off our discussion by kind of getting to know a little more about your

background and what led you to surgery and your focus on surgical education?

Well I've always considered myself a teacher, and so with my interest in surgery and taking care of patients, it just kind of went hand in hand.

And kind of what I tell my students and my residence is the best way to be a

teacher is to remember what it was like to be a student and what it's like to be a resident and so I mean

honestly I kind of consider myself a resident so it kind of flows naturally.

So I have just always enjoyed teaching and working with medical students in residence and it kind of led itself to kind of mind being an advocate for medical students and resident not only teaching but kind of
