This is a heartbreaking story of a little girl who dotted the hands of a man who should have never been trusted to care for her.

Not that her mother was any better.

She treated her daughter with such little regard.

I will never understand why these parents have children only to mistreat them. Why not allow someone who would absolutely adore a little girl like Tegan to raise her instead? Like Tegan's

grandparents offered, begged to do a number of times. This story could have ended so

very different and Tegan could have lived a full and happy life. July 2010, Smithfield, North Carolina.

Helen Reyes left her four-year-old daughter Tegan in the care of a man she knew for only

six months. Over the next ten horrific days, this man

kept four-year-old Tegan confined in a barn while he tortured her in every way imaginable.

When she became unresponsive, this man took Tegan to the emergency room, where doctors

did all they could, but were unable to save the life of the little girl, suffering from severe

injuries covering every inch of her body. This is Teigen's story.
