0:00.0 | Welcome back to the Simple Farmhouse Life podcast. A lot of you have been enjoying more discussions lately on homeschool. I get a lot of questions about that in my inbox and DMs on Instagram. |
0:13.0 | Something that I don't talk about that much, but there are a lot of people that I'd love to talk about that with and share it with you. |
0:19.0 | Today's guest is Lindsay from Treehouse Schoolhouse. She has amazing resources that go with homeschooling with the seasons. So she has like she's telling us about in the interview an upcoming Easter resource that sounds really cool that you can walk your kids through almost like advent is for Christmas. |
0:38.0 | There's something that she's created for Easter. She has book lists. |
0:42.0 | Anyway, if you're interested in homeschooling or your homeschool mom that wants some encouragement, this is going to be a wonderful interview for you. |
0:49.0 | My name is Lisa, mother of seven and creator of the blog and YouTube channel Farmhouse on Boone. Join me as I share with you my love for creating a handmade home from scratch cooking and a little mom and entrepreneur life along the way. |
1:03.0 | Thanks, Lindsay so much for joining me to talk about homeschool. This is something I get asked about a lot. |
1:15.0 | And I've been bringing on more and more people to talk about it because I get a lot of requests, but I don't talk about it a ton just because I guess in some ways, you know, we all feel like as homeschooling moms, we're still figuring it out. |
1:26.0 | I'm not an expert. So I love having on other moms to talk about that. So okay, let's start with introductions. Tell us about you, your family, your homeschool experience, and your mission to homeschool with a focus on seasonal rhythms, biblical truth and family connection. |
1:43.0 | Yeah, so I'm Lindsay. I have four children. We live in North Carolina and I have four children ages two, four, eight and nine. Okay, when you start getting lots of them, kind of forget their ages. |
1:57.0 | And we've been homeschooling since the beginning. I actually have a unique story because before I was a mother, I was hired as a nanny and fell in love with homeschooling. |
2:07.0 | So I was first there, nanny, and they decided to take them out of school and they asked if I would homeschool. |
2:13.0 | Oh, and so I was actually in a career as a homeschool person before I ever had children. |
2:20.0 | Yeah, so they had some special needs and it was just a lot for the mom to handle, you know, so anyway, I ended up homeschooling one child, took a little break, homeschooled the second child. So it was my full time job. |
2:31.0 | And I was also in children's ministry. So those two things were really my passions. And so going into motherhood, I knew like I just wanted to homeschool for sure. |
2:41.0 | And that was kind of a non-negotiable with my husband when we were dating. I was like, just so you know, that's my vision. So we've been homeschooling, you know, since the beginning. |
2:50.0 | So for us, we don't really do any formal education till more like age six or seven. |
2:56.0 | So just sort of setting up that lifestyle in those early years when my kids were four and five. |
3:02.0 | So yeah, now we've been full blown into that for a few years. |
3:06.0 | So as far as the things that I really focus on, family discipleship is a really important factor to our home. |
3:14.0 | And so incorporating the Bible, incorporating what we believe about God in all of the subjects is really important to me. |
3:20.0 | And then we love nature. We are big nature people. We are always hiking and camping and outside. |
