So I'm waitressing, I'm doing this volunteer radio thing, and I'm just trying to grow and integrate as a person, so I'm going to yoga classes,

and at one point I decided to do a series of reburthing sessions.

And I don't know if you know much about,

this was something that was big in the 80s,

but you do this deep breathing,

and as part of this reburthing process these 10 sessions you're given the opportunity to say what your prayer is for your life and as a result of those reburthing sessions, the prayer that came to me was,

God, I'm willing to do your work.

Please show me what it is.

Because I knew it wasn't working at this Chinese restaurant and the volunteer radio thing

I didn't really have a sense of that being anything but a way to share music and get educated myself. So God, I'm willing to do your work. Please show me what it is.

Hello friends and welcome back to the Light Watkins show where I interview ordinary folks just like you and me who've taken

extraordinary leaps of faith in the direction of their path, their purpose, or what they've identified

as their mission. And in doing doing so they've been able to positively

impact and inspire the lives of many other people who've either heard about their

story or who've witnessed them in action or people who've directly benefited from their work.

And what I've found after conducting a hundred and seventy something interviews with luminaries who have found

their purpose is that there is almost always a moment when they hit

upon some sort of internal crossroads where they could either go in the direction

of fitting in or they can go in the direction of being authentic to themselves.

And 99.9% of the time, the people who end up finding their calling and living their purpose

are the ones who choose, sometimes against all odds, to be themselves.

It's really that simple.
