Delin. It is October 18th, 2022 and we are in part two of our interview with Brindley Jensen. Hey,

Brindley. Hello. Welcome back. Thank you. We just spent three hours where Brindley talked about a

very sobering and timely topic, which was what happens when you're a Mormon missionary young woman

and you reach such levels of depression and anxiety on your Mormon mission that you want to die. And

I that's a it's a harsh thing. It's a strong thing to say. But that was not only Brindley's experience,

but it's been the experience of tens of thousands of Mormon missionaries over the years. And the

Mormon Church is having an epidemic of a mental health crisis with its missionaries in 2021-2022,

which is not just a Mormon crisis. There's an epidemic of mental health for teenagers and young

adults in the United States. So it's really important that we're talking about it. Brindley just spent

three hours talking to us about her faithful Mormon upbringing in Ogden, Utah and her time in high

school of deep sexual shame around religious purity and purity culture within a Christian and

Mormon context. And then her time on a mission in Florida where she did a lot of good things,

but reached such levels of anxiety and depression that she wanted to die and ended up coming home

early from her mission. So that's where we left off part one. Please, if you haven't watched it,

pause, go back and watch that. It'll make part two a lot more meaningful. But now we're going to

start part two, which is about the aftermath of returning home from a Mormon mission and then her

faith processing, possibly deconstruction, and then whatever the reconstruction looks like, that's

going to be what part two is about. Is that right, Brindley? Yes, that's right. Yeah. How you doing?
