Today we're going to take a tour of the human body.

I know that when I had my kids and they were young, they would ask me so many awkward

and unknowable questions about their bodies.

They wanted to understand why they weren't growing faster

or why their mouth felt dry or how their throat swallowed food.

And being the sort of literature person, the writing and history type

person I was, I didn't have very good answers. So I started looking for books that

had activities we could do that would help us

understand our bodies, ways to do fingerprints or to build an ear drum or to consider

how our eyes actually created the site that we relied on every day.

I wish so much that this book, Human Body Learning Lab by Dr. Betty Choi, had been around when I was homeschooling.

I would have devoured it. Today's guest is the author, Dr Betty Choi.
