0:06.0	first as the 44 caliber killer and then as the now infamous son of Sam. Son of Sam was an American
0:11.9	serial killer who terrorized New York City for almost exactly a year. He killed from the end of July
0:16.7	1976 until the end of July 1977. He may have tried to kill a year and a half earlier when he says
0:23.2	he was driven to stab two young women on Christmas Eve 1975. In the end, Berkowitz killed six
0:30.7	and wounded seven. Nine, if he count those 1975 stabbing victims and he terrified millions. Why?
0:38.2	Why did he do all this? Did he think as many believe he thought as he himself
0:42.4	claimed off and on to have thought that literal demons were ordering him to kill? Did he think

1:02.0	those hellhounds belonged to a neighbor named Sam Carr and did he think that Sam, the man behind
1:06.7	his self given son of Sam Moniker, was possessed by the most powerful demon of them all, possibly by
1:12.5	Satan himself. And it's Sam, another man, a bunch of dogs, all demons wanted him to kill. Or was it a
1:19.5	hell of a lot simpler than that? Did David Berkowitz kill because he was a murderous coward, angry
1:24.3	and resentful towards his biological mother for abandoning him? Was he angry about his many failures
1:29.2	with women? Did he kill women? Because he hated them, because they wanted nothing to do with him,
1:34.1	or at least that's what he perceived and found and he found killing them to be sexually arousing.
1:39.8	Did he invent the whole satanic talking dog story he wrote about and taunting letters to the press
1:44.8	letters left behind for police to find at crime scenes so he could later plead insanity if he was
1:50.2	ever caught. Did he do all of this because he was a deranged psychopath and it just simply
1:56.7	amused him to terrorize the general public? Did he just want to feel powerful? Wanted to be a big
