Joe Simon. His pencils were solid gold. Put simply, Jack was the finest storyteller the comics ever had.

It was a privilege to know him, work with him, and call him my friend.

Stan Lee. I used to marvel at the way Jack drew. He would draw something as if it had appeared in his mind,

and he was just tracing what he had thought of already. I never saw a man draw as quickly as Jack did.

Neil Adams. That little guy behind that desk, chomping on the cigar, he was a genius. He set our business up. We all followed him. Frank Miller. Jack, in many ways, epitomized a certain generation with a genius and talent and was able to give his fullest expression a form that was so much under his control.

He was able to do it freely.

While he was obviously absorbing the movies and trends of his time, regurgitating a certain number of them,

they were all coming through Jack Kirby's filter, and that kid from the Lower East Side with both the Nazi Boon members was able to deliver consistently something transcendent.

The thing I admire most about Jack was the example he set as a man.

He was a total pro, creative, brilliant,

and he understood how to marshal that in service

to what was most important to him, his family.

Jack Kirby could have been a golf caddy.

He would still have been an inspiration

to us all. He was just that kind of man. Father, friend, soldier, artist, futurist, visionary,
