Summary
Did a single first pair of humans (Adam and Eve) ever exist? Join us this Friday at 4:00 pm MT for an epic discussion with Dr. Simon Southerton about Mormonism’s core doctrine of Adam and Eve. We will analyze the conflicts between the undisputed fact of human evolution and the belief that all humans descended from a single couple of humans in Jackson County, Missouri. We will break down the different ways in which the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its apologists have responded to conflicting scientific evidence and the ongoing debate regarding the existence of pre-Adamites. In addition, Dr. Michael Westaway will be joining us to speak about his groundbreaking research regarding the Mungo Man, the oldest and most famous human skeleton in Australia dated at 42,000 years, which was voted in the top 10 papers of the year by Science magazine in 2016.

| 0:00.0 | Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Mormon Stories podcast. I am one of your |
| 0:05.3 | co hosts for today, John Delin. I am joined by one of my two or three main partners in |
| 0:13.0 | truth and righteousness, Herado Semano. Hey, Herado. Hey, John. Thanks for joining us. |
| 0:18.3 | Yeah. Excited to be here as always. This is an exciting one. Yeah. It's March 4th and |
| 0:24.0 | we are here bringing back onto our program, someone who is a legend as far as I'm concerned, |
| 0:30.2 | but also someone who has been doing really important work for Mormon Stories podcast. We |
| 0:35.4 | reintroduced to you all, Dr. Simon Sotherton, geneticist from Australia. Hey, Simon. |
| 0:40.7 | Good. I don't know how are you. Thanks for joining us. Oh, it's pleasure. Yeah. And we are |
| 0:46.6 | here in a series that we have just started on Mormon Stories with Dr. Sotherton with |
| 0:51.7 | Simon called Science versus Mormon doctrine. What's it called? Mormon doctrine versus science. |
| 0:56.2 | Okay. Yeah. And all this is is once a month we bring Simon on. He has a lot of experience |
| 1:02.7 | in sciences. It relates to Mormon church truth claims. And once a month we have Simon |
| 1:07.9 | addressing an issue where where science bumps up against Mormon doctrine or truth claims. |
| 1:14.9 | And while we are talking about that, I just need to show you how we make this possible. |
| 1:22.0 | So if you go to Mormon Stories.org slash Simon, it'll take you to this website. And on |
| 1:27.8 | this website, we announced this program. And there's a little donate button there. The |
| 1:32.1 | reason why I'm mentioning this at the beginning is we feel like it's important to pay Simon |
| 1:38.0 | for his work. Simon has been doing basically really important work for us Mormons post-Mormons |
| 1:44.7 | for literally decades. He's been doing this longer than me. And that's saying something. |
| 1:50.0 | And so we are paying Simon for his efforts. It's probably almost symbolic. But I think |
| 1:56.0 | for him, it's maybe a little bit motivating, but most importantly for us, we feel like |
| 2:00.0 | it's just sustainable. And so because some of you have stepped up, we've started paying |
