Hey everybody, we got a great one today. You know, for a change. David Frum of the Atlantic

Monthly joins me, a man who knows Washington and how the government works, and David, who

wrote the lead article in the Atlantic Monthly year- End issue, an entire issue laying out all the

horrible consequences of a Trump presidency. David here takes a slightly different tack in this one,

not because he doesn't believe Trump is a disaster. David is of the opinion now that many of the parade of horribles we all envision from a second

Trump administration won't happen because of the bureaucratic checks and balances within

our system that just because President Trump wants something to happen, he won't be able

to get it done. This is, again, somewhat at odds with the whole Atlantic

monthly double issue, which lays out a nightmarish negative utopia. David and I foresee Democrats

taking back the House, which is so nakedly dysfunctional right now. And David foresees difficulties getting the parade of horrible candidates

who would be willing to take jobs in the second administration,

getting them confirmed.

This is an interesting point of view.

He's basically saying the swamp,

which is comprised of responsible public servants,

will institutionally be able to stop the worst of Trump's excesses.

This is a hypothesis that we can't afford to see tested, of course,

because this dysfunctional administration that David foresees

will, in many cases, bring the country to a grinding halt.

It's a different kind of scenario than I've heard,

but one that makes a very persuasive case,

kind of a slightly less horrible best case scenario
