Today we had such a great conversation getting to know Kate.

Kate Leif spent more than 10 years as an educator,

three years working in more informal teaching roles in outdoor education,

and seven years working in the formal classroom, teaching secondary level, English, and social studies.

Despite her love for teaching, Kate found herself wanting to make a professional change

when engaging students seem to become harder and harder each year following the pandemic.

Kate now works for a nonprofit in communications and community outreach.

And on top of that, she found a way to continue to fulfill that teacher part of herself

that loves to facilitate learning by working in a part-time role as an ESL instructor

for adults.

Hi, thanks so much for having me. I'm excited to be here.

Thanks so much for your time. So we love to start these out by learning a little bit about

why you got into education and a little bit about your journey and transition. Yeah, absolutely.

So I'm definitely one of those people that was pretty sure I would always be a

teacher. My mom is a teacher. My grandma was a teacher. And I used to like, you know, set up my dolls

...
