Katie and I had the rich blessing of having our hearts turned towards our kiddos in a deeper more meaningful way than ever before. We've always loved being with our children and have always believed they are so worth our time and energy but over the last week the Lord really blessed us by turning our affection towards them, allowing us to find real joy, satisfaction, and purpose in parenting. In this episode we share some of the things that we attribute this heart change coming from.

0:00.0 | In today's episode, Katie and I are going to be talking about our newly found energy and excitement towards parenting. |
0:08.7 | We've never lost excitement, we've never lost, I would say, even enthusiasm towards it, but we've definitely experienced a new dose in a higher level. |
0:18.0 | This is high octane energy that we have towards parenting right now, and we're going to be sharing with you as to why we think that is, |
0:26.7 | and what some of the takeaways, some of the practical takeaways are from that newly found inspiration that we have towards our children and towards parenting and towards family in general. |
0:37.0 | So, without further ado, let's get going. |
0:41.7 | Okay, so I came out here, and tonight's going to be a pretty cozy podcast because they brought me a purple blanket, and I sit down, and Alicia has prepared a water bottle for me, and a croit. |
1:01.7 | When I was getting set up out here, I thought, why have I not prepared my wife better up until now? What would I want? You know, what would I want when I'm sitting down to record a podcast, and it's a bottle of water, maybe a croit? Maybe I would like the option to choose between those two, and so that's why I gave you the option. |
1:21.7 | Well, I feel very spoiled, so thank you very much for that. |
1:25.7 | I should have done that a long time ago. Well, it sounds like I should have, because it sounds like you're the one who's realizing there's a lack of a croit and water option. |
1:33.7 | Because it's not your job to get everybody set up for the podcast. It's my job. Does that make sense? I'm really the producer and the director. |
1:42.7 | Yeah, I come out here, and I sit in the other chair, and I go, okay, what are we talking about? |
1:46.7 | Well, what are we talking about? Well, I'm actually really excited today, because it's rare that Alicia and I will read the same book all the way through. |
1:53.7 | And we did. I mean, it helps. It's a very, very skinny book, but I say that's the biggest reason I was able to read that book all the way through. |
2:02.7 | But whatever you read, like giant autobiographies and stuff. But the thing is, is that it was just really powerful to us. |
2:11.7 | And what's interesting is actually when I went on Instagram to share the link with people, I was reading the reviews, and I was kind of bummed out because I think it kind of |
2:22.7 | acts like it shows the whole of, I guess, just how many of us struggle with learning and growing. |
2:31.7 | We just feel like we know it all because so many of the reviews to this book that I just thought were so powerful. The book was so powerful. |
2:37.7 | We're just like, oh, yeah, kind of like what you would expect, you know, and I was thinking on Amazon. |
2:44.7 | And I was just thinking, I think this is so powerful. And even if something, you know, that's something I guess I just really appreciate about Alicia is that you are reading this. |
2:54.7 | And it's not like you never heard any of this before. But Alicia was like at work and calling me up. |
3:01.7 | I'm like, Katie, I've got to read this to you. And we like cry on the phone through these chunks of the book. And so I had to read it too. |
3:09.7 | And so anyways, even if this is kind of repetitive or this isn't, you know, rocket science to you and where you're at in your parenting journey. |
