We honor a captain.

We honor one of the all-time greatest to ever wear a New York

Met uniform, and that is Career Met, David Wright. Obviously, David is going to have his number

retired in just a couple of days, so we figured, why not now honor David Wright with a countdown

here on the Rico Bronia, counting down his 15 greatest moments as a New York

Met. Now, you heard me say, as a New York Met, I just want to get this out of the way.

The whole Captain America, World Baseball Classic thing, we don't include it. And not because I

didn't enjoy it, not because we didn't enjoy it, but I'm talking about as a MET for our baseball team, as they get said to honor him by retiring the number five.

I have been very critical over the years on WFA and back on my days doing the show with Joe to even now with Tiki of not really wanting to retire numbers.

That I thought it was special how the Mets

didn't retire a lot of numbers. You know, for a long time, there was the special case of Casey

Stangle, kind of being the mascot of the early days Mets. There was Gil Hodges who died tragically,

but was also a New York baseball icon, and of course manage them to the Miracle Mets World

Championship.

And then you had one of the greatest of all time in George Thomas Seaver and a Hall of Famer

and Mike Piazza.

And to me that always was perfect.

So at first, I wasn't a huge fan of expanding it to include Jerry Cusman and Keith

Hernandez and Darrell Strawberry and Doc Gooden.
