Apologies for the late and solo episode this week. A lot of scheduling stuff got thrown

into disarray with the 4th of July holiday, but we are here.

I am here with you.

We are here together to talk about speedy race cars. Specifically, the race in Austria-Euster Reich

this weekend. So let's just dive right in here shall we and talk about the circuit itself so

F1 has raced on a track at this location in Spielberg Austria on and off since 1970

It used to be called the Osterike Ring, not the Jason Osterac

Ring, if there's any confusion on that one. But for safety reasons it was overhauled

in 1996 by the ubiquitous Hermann Tilka.

It is now called the Red Bull Ring and has the fewest turns of any F1 track at 10. Three of those are barely long enough to B turns

though so it's more like seven turns.

The track is 2.7 miles or 4.3 kilometers long,

making it the fourth shortest on the calendar,

but it does have the shortest lap time

of all the current F1 circus around the 1 minute 10.

I think the record for a race lap is 1 minute 8, held by Michael Schumacher.

However, as Niegel Holkenberg says, quote, it is important not to get a false

impression as it's still a very technical and challenging track. It does have a fair

amount of elevation changes starting with a rise up to the turn one
