I think that Jefferson is exactly the person we need to consult at a moment like this.

Not that we necessarily agree with his line of thinking, but he asks the questions

that a nation should ask itself when it's involved as we in some peripheral way are with what's

going on in Ukraine and Russia. Jefferson was an isolationist. It's probably too late

for that, but his isolationist sort of default view that on the whole we should stay out of these

things is really important for us to think about as well as his view is who's going to pay for all

this. We're now over 50 billion in to this war and probably it will come closer to 100 billion

before we cease to send checks to Ukraine. So Jefferson, I think, is not necessarily right,

but he's right on if that makes any sense. And remember we did war discussions before we invaded

Iraq. You will recall that. We didn't say we told you so we just said we need to remind people

that these things tend to go wrong. The fog of war that on day one the war takes a turn that

you could never have anticipated. And so here we are again. I think on these grave international
