Tutankhamun's life.

In 1336 BCE, King Tutankhamun was approximately 17 years old. By Egyptian standards, he was an adult.

The Pharaoh was young, but mature. After 8 years on the throne, he had developed into a full

grown male. He did not know it yet, but young Tutankhamun had just a couple years to live.

To understand Tutankhamun's life, we must begin with his mummy. The young king's body,

preserved and wrapped, lay in his tomb for 3000 years. Excavators found that tomb in 1922,

and after a few years' work, they finally opened the coffins. The mummy of Tutankhamun returned to

the light in November 1925. Howard Carter and his team painstakingly opened the sarcophagus,
