Hey everyone welcome back to the screenwriting life. I'm Meg Lefove and I'm

Lorian McKenna and today we are talking with screenwriter Brenda Shay who's co-writer on Pixar's

elemental which is in theater right now. Brenda got her start in multi-camp

sitcoms working on shows like how I met your mother

and disjointed and she most recently wrote

for two Apple comedies, Mr. Korman, and the afterparty.

So Brenda's most recent credit, of course,

is elemental, which she co-wrote and which we'll be

discussing today in addition to her busy career as a TV comedy writer.

It's super fun to have you here.

Well, before we get started and talking to Brenda,

we start each show with our segment Adventures in Screenwriting and

Brenda I believe you've agreed to partake in letting us know how your week was

Lorian, how was your week?

My week, this week, has been all about battling shame and digging into how it manifests in my everyday life and how it gets in my way in really important ways.

So Meg, you know, sometimes we're invited to do speaking gigs and I do this thing where I just undervalue myself automatically.

Oh, Meg's the one who knows how to do a lecture.

I'll just figure something out to do on the side.
