In this episode, I want to talk to you about seven ways to grow in your preaching in the coming year, 2004 is upon us.

And I guess I know I'm getting old because every year I say the same thing.

My goodness, this year went by fast.

It feels like that every year as you get older.

But truly, we are now in the beginning days of December,

2020. We stand on the front porch of a new year. If you are like me, you are making

family plans for the new year, ministry plans for the new year, personal plans for the new year,

so that you'll be intentional about your growth and purpose and expectations for your life and work in the new year.

And I want to encourage you to include in those year-end slash

your beginning plans to think about your preaching. You want to be growing in your preaching.

You want to, well, at least I want to. And I trust you're listening to this podcast because you want to be a better preacher.

There is a spiritual and scriptural factor that we should consider in the first Timothy chapter four.

After practical instructions about living a godly life, Paul tells Timothy to live out these

instructions so that your progress may be evident to all. I'm always fascinated with that

statement. And what comes to my mind,

I don't know if the weight of this is what Paul was intending, but what comes to my mind,

when I read or hear or think about that verse, is that there is a sense in which the exhortation suggests that if nothing else is growing in the church,

it ought to be evident that the preacher is growing.
