Summary

After converting to Mormonism as a teen and attending BYU, Haleigh Evert’s relationship with the Mormon church grew unfulfilling and complicated. After leaving the church for a time, Haleigh came back to the Mormon church, married in the temple, and started making videos and writing about her Mormon journey.

Haleigh eventually published the book “Why I Left the Mormon Church and Came Back,” which is still sold at Deseret Book today. Then, after years of promoting and defending the Mormon church, Haleigh read the CES Letter for the first time (just a month and a half ago).

In this episode we discuss Haleigh's conversion, her reach on social media as a Mormon influencer, and her life now after reading the CES letter.

1:01.9	YouTube being about her life and about her Mormon life. She started a YouTube channel soon after getting married in the Mormon temple.
1:08.9	She's a convert and for many many years she was sort of YouTube being her awesome Mormon life and
1:17.0	recently she's kind of started to learn more about Mormon Church history and
1:21.2	and of course every marriage goes through its ups and downs and her YouTube channel has kind of changed a little bit
1:28.1	where she started talking about some of the things she never learned as a convert to the church from the missionary discussions and then also
1:36.2	stuff she's been discovering lately. So this story to me is important for several reasons.
1:41.8	You know, I always talk about informed consent. I'm or a historian's podcast and how people raise in the church and people who convert to the church.
1:48.2	Don't I always fully understand the full ramifications of what they're getting into when they join?
