All right, welcome back, day five of John chapter three. We're going to pick

0:24.4

it up in 316. Again, one of the most famous verses. And part of the reason it's famous is because it is the

0:31.2

whole gospel in one sentence for God. So love the world. That means you, that he gave his only son, that whoever, that also means you,

0:40.7

that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. We love that, but a lot of

0:45.6

people don't keep going in verse 17. It gets great. For God did not send his son into the world to

0:51.7

1:35.3

All right.

1:35.7

Jesus came not to condemn us, but to save us.

1:38.8

I know a lot of us have some church backgrounds and all we heard was condemnation.

1:43.2

I mean, listen, I'm sure the pastors were doing the

1:45.9

best they could do back in the day when I was a kid growing up in the church, or going to

1:49.8

occasionally when I went to church, these churches. But the message that I heard over and over and

1:54.3

over was about moral submission. That's what it was. It was about obligatory moral behavior. That's what it was.

2:05.1

It was God is good. You are bad. Try it harder. See you next week. And there was a lot of condemnation.
