0:35.3

Welcome back to the quarter of the day show I'm your host Sean Crox and a Sean Crox and calm happy Monday to your my friend

0:41.9

As I record this week's episodes I'm supposed to be on kind of like a break but it isn't really turned out to be a break

0:48.3

And so what I did to make this easier on me was I picked five episodes from the back catalog that I really enjoyed and that the audience really enjoyed

0:58.7

And so for the next five days we got nothing but classic episodes kind of like a rerun week

1:03.3

And we're going to start things off with the late coach Jim Valvano and coach Valvano is going to talk about how everybody needs to have a personal philosophy for success

1:15.3

As you know my personal philosophy is little by little a little becomes a lot

1:21.3

1:40.3

You don't lose enthusiasm for what it is that you're creating and you have to learn how to embrace the plateaus

1:48.3

Because you're going to hit plateaus where you're like oh my god I'm doing all this work every single day and nothing's really changing

1:53.3

I was reading something the other day about George Leonard who wrote a book called mastery and he talked about these plateaus

2:02.3

And essentially he said that in your plateau when things aren't changing but you're still doing your little by little you're still taking action every day

2:12.3

That's where the magic happens because things are going on behind the scenes that are creating the conditions for the big change

2:21.3

And so if you're ever in a plateau you're like oh my gosh why aren't things working why isn't anything changing

2:26.3

Just realize that you are on the precipice of having a big breakthrough

2:31.3

You're on the precipice of a quantum leap in your development either personally or professionally

2:37.3

And so embrace the plateau have a personal philosophy and understand that ordinary people like you, like me, can do extraordinary things

2:48.3

Jim Valvano coming up after these words
