In this episode, I want to talk to you about planning your 20204 preaching calendar.

Yes, 20203 has just flown by and we are right around the corner from a brand new year which for whatever that means to others has a unique significance for preaching. It brings a new cycle of 52

Sundays of preaching, more specifically, 52 weeks of sermon preparation to preach on Sundays.

And I want to talk to you about how to get ahead of the game. And that happens through

planning your preaching. I'm an advocate of planning your preaching. I didn't grow up under

a preacher who had an extended plan. I think my father, who I sat under as a boy, was saved and nurtured

under, he planned from week to week. I never heard him preach series, but he was always in the

word. His weeks were filled with preparation. He was done with his sermons by

Thursday, three messages he wrote each week. And they were typed by his secretary on Fridays

for him, for him to have at the end of the day to review over the course of the weekend. So I know there had to have

been some thought process that went behind it, but there was no obvious plan. When I became a

pastor as a young preacher and I tried that, it wiped me out pretty quickly and I got behind very rapidly.

And my solution was to plan preaching.

Yes, I believe in the Holy Spirit.

And yes, I believe if in the middle of the week, if at the end of the week, the Lord leads you in another direction.

Hey, beggars cannot be choosers.

My advice would be go with God.

But none of those things should be excuses for you not planning your preaching.

I think it's just good time management to plan your preaching. I think it's good stewardship of your time so that the time you have to prepare,
