Summary

One of Hettie Brittz’s greatest fears was that she would be raped. In her home country of South Africa it is estimated that over 30% of women will be raped in their lifetime. So when she was awakened one night by her husband, escorted by four strange men and with his hands tied behind his back, she thought she was about to become a statistic. 0:18.5	And I had the opportunity to Het you just a few weeks ago to hear
0:21.8	a piece of your testimony. And it is one of the most powerful testimonies I have ever heard.
0:29.7	And as soon as I heard it, I was like, I cannot wait for you to share this with our listeners
0:35.5	on job with Julie, because I've never heard anything like it.
0:39.3	So we have a lot of men and women listening who have experienced trauma in the past.
0:46.3	A lot of what we do at Authentic Intimacy is talking about past wounds,
0:50.3	particularly sexual wounds and sexual trauma and that God is the healer of those.
0:56.0	Your story is a very different illustration of God's presence and is healing even in the
1:04.4	midst of some of the most difficult things we can experience. So you're ready to share?
1:09.9	Yes. Yeah. And I guess I'll start where you started, where when I heard your testimony, was your
1:17.1	greatest fear as an adult, young adult woman, was a sexual violation, correct?
1:24.6	Yes, it was. And it's one of the most common crimes in my country. South Africa
1:29.4	is not proud of it, but I think we are possibly number one, two or three when it comes to
1:35.6	rape. Our statistics predict that one in three women will be raped in our country. So that is
1:41.4	something that you quickly make your calculation and you realize,
1:45.3	oh man, this could happen to me. So you had this down deep inside, this fear of being raped
1:53.1	someday and I know that that's even a fear that you had brought before the Lord and asked him,
1:59.3	please let this never happen, correct?
2:01.8	Yes, because we are taught, and from the stories we hear of survivors who act more like
