Well, we had a person in the Disney community pass away recently.

Kirk Douglas, who was born 15 years after Walt Disney on December 9th, 1916.

He passed away at the age of 103, amazing, on February 5th, 2020. And he served in the United States Navy during World War II

from 1941 to 1944. And he starred in many films during his acting career. And probably

folks have seen a lot of those films already posted, you know, in various obituaries and reports.

But we Disney fans knew him best as Ned Lane, the boisterous harpooner in 1954's 20,000

leaks under the sea. And, you know, people always ask, did Kirk Douglas really sing the

film's most memorable song, a whale of a tale that was written by Norman, Gimbel, and Al Hoffman?

And yes, he did. He had sung in a movie prior to 20,000 leagues under the sea. And Whale of a

Tale was even released as a single in 1954. And

this is one of my all-time favorite Disney live-action films. Yeah. And we've talked about it

before many, many times on this show, especially when we're talking about movies and Disney classics.

And, you know, my, of course, your first recognition with the movie would have been, you know, seeing it at some point in time.

My first one was actually, you mentioned, Whale of a a tail my first time having any experience with

with just blanked on it 20 000 leagues under the sea my first time with that experience was

on one of the disney sing-along songs that was themed to sea. I think it was Little Mermaid was the

one they were pushing with it. But they had, they had whale of a tail as one of the sing-along songs on that.
