Hi everyone, welcome to Recovery Happy Hour, where we talk about life beyond the bottle and

0:28.1

what happens after we stop drinking. I'm your host Trisha and last Friday I burned an entire

0:33.6

court of pinion wood in my chimney because that's what we do on weekends now. So welcome, thank you

0:39.0

for joining me. Well good morning, how's everyone doing? This episode won air for a few days, but it's

0:45.8

early Sunday morning while I'm recording this. So wake you wake you Trisha, let's all enjoy my

0:51.0

morning voice and dig right into this episode. I'm hitting another greatest hits of topics today,

0:57.0

and that's high functioning alcoholism. I talked about it on episode one, and I've touched about

1:02.9

audio has greatly improved since then. So let's just revisit that, shall we? I started this show for

1:24.3

not sure if their problem is bad enough. I was both of those people, and the reason why I ask

1:30.8

every interview we at the beginning of every episode, if they were a high functioning or a low

1:35.0

functioning drinker, is to help prove a point that you can look like you've got your life completely

1:40.4

together and have a drinking problem that's bad enough to decide to want to stop completely.

1:46.6

These two things often coexist in the same person, and not being able to connect the two is what

1:52.3

kept me miserable for so long. It's hard to convince someone, let alone yourself, who looks

1:58.6

totally fine, to accept the fact that they're not fine, and there are so many external factors

2:04.5

that play here too. You know, a lot of us are taught not to talk about it if we're struggling,

2:09.0

to fake it till you make it, to not ask for help because you're going to try to figure it out on
