Or perhaps, more honestly, we want to avoid making the wrong choices.

I've never heard anyone say they want to do the next wrong thing

and in fact that's often what we're afraid of.

A lot of our chronic hesitation comes from a deep seated fear

that we don't have what it takes to make a good solid decision

that we're going to wreck it all up or that we're going to do something

that later will regret.

And so we do our best to try to learn all the facts,

to ask all the people to put the decision off and to find as much evidence

as we can that the direction we're headed in is a good one.
