πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

ROMANS 8:1-4 - There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Good morning once again, my friends. It is time to get going for the day, isn't it? It is really not a matter of what time of day it is, I guess. Any time that

we're able to stop and reset our mindset, to be able to reorient ourselves to the direction of God's truth.

0:26.0

That is a time that is good for us to get going on the day, isn't it?

0:32.0

Well, today we've been looking in

0:34.5

Romans chapter 8 and we spent a lot of time on verse 1 about the condemnation

0:39.0

that we tend to feel and how Christ has removed that now and forever. We're going to move on

0:45.8

into verses two and three, maybe even verse four, where we're told that the spirit of God has done something amazing for us. He has set us free

0:56.8

from what Paul calls the law of sin and death. The law of sin and death. I mean you think about laws, natural laws like

1:06.8

the law of gravity and they're pretty constant aren't they and they apply to everyone.

1:18.0

This law of sin that he's talking about is a law that said past tense that we were slaves to sin because of the sinful bent we inherited from our ancestor Adam.

1:30.0

But Jesus Christ has come and through the law of the Spirit of Life, which is a law of grace, it's a law of

1:38.0

substitutionary atonement where Jesus took our place.

1:42.0

We have been set free from the law of sin and death. Now if that is not

1:46.4

good news to you, you might want to check your spiritual pulse. You are free from the law of sin and death. So what that means practically is that you no longer have to sin.

2:00.0

Now I understand there are some very powerful and compelling habitual types of

2:06.4

sin out there. Whether it's alcoholism or anger issues or sexual

2:12.3

temptations of various sorts, I understand the powerful pull of sin.

2:17.0

Absolutely. But that does not make what Paul is teaching here

2:23.4

untrue. We just need to understand something more

2:28.8

about what he's saying and know how to apply it.

2:32.0

Because see part of the reason

2:35.0

that sinful habits and behaviors have a pull on us
