So hello everybody. I'm sitting here with Christian Roy. For those who follow the channel, you have probably

0:05.9

seen my past interviews with him on Jacques Eululul and some McLuhan as well, and the question of

0:12.5

technicity, the problem of technology. And so he has recently written an article on Marshall McLuhan

0:20.0

and his relationship differences to orthodoxy, on Marshall McLuhan and his relationship differences to

0:23.6

orthodoxy, because Marshall McLuhan was a Catholic, looking at the places of contact with

0:29.3

orthodoxy, but also the differences and also the possibility within McLuhan of understanding

0:34.8

how his ideas connect to symbolic world and to symbolic vision.

0:39.3

And so I really thought it would be a great opportunity to explore a little more

0:43.8

0:54.0

in terms of social

0:54.8

transformation.

0:56.7

And so I'm really looking forward to this conversation.

2:23.0

It appeared in 1999, I believe.

2:26.1

And actually, I won't dwell on it because James Cortides already has in his introduction

2:33.3

to his own reading of my recent article on McLuhan for the blog.

2:40.0

So my, it was, I guess, among my first direct engagements with McLuhan, which has informed my

2:50.0

thought for maybe decades, probably since the 1980s, my thought on technique.

2:56.2

But so I'm a bit of a dabbler in his talk, but it's so nourishing that even is concentrating on a couple of articles like we're going to do it.
