Summary

In October of 1900, four men accompanied a young woman named Jennie Bosschieter to a saloon, where one of them slipped a large amount of chloral hydrate into her drink. She was then taken on a ride to a remote place, sexually assaulted, and eventually died from the overdose.

My guest is Kimberly Tilley, author of "The Poisoned Glass", and she tells the disturbing story of the murder, the investigation, the trial and its aftermath.

0:24.2	twice before the podcast but it's been a while I know too. So here goes again.
0:29.5	The most notorious theme song is called the executioner's rag and it was
0:36.0	written by a really great guy named Todd Purley who lives in New Orleans and
0:41.7	when I was starting this podcast back at the end of 2015 my gosh it's already
0:48.4	been almost four years huh. And looking for a theme song I knew I wanted
0:54.3	something that sounded dark and I wanted something ragtime. So I remember
1:01.0	searching on YouTube for a ragtime piece and a minor key and this came up. The
1:09.6	executioner's rag I watched Todd perform it and you can as well just type in
1:16.3	executioner's rag on YouTube Todd Purley P-E-R-L-E-Y and you can see him his
1:25.0	nimble fingers performing the song on the piano and I was just blown away by the
1:32.2	atmosphere that this song created and I thought gosh that's it that's why I
1:38.6	want to start every episode with a bit of this and I contacted Todd who was a
1:45.9	very very generous guy. He said you can use the beginning of the song to start
1:51.8	your show and I've been eternally grateful ever since and I'm always very
1:57.8	happy to point people to to his performance on YouTube. Now, however he has not
2:03.3	ever released his professional recording to the world. I have suggested to him
2:13.3	that he released it on iTunes, Spotify, but he is a person who freely admits
