Three true, terrifying ghost stories.

Are you ready?

Our first story, The Watcher in the Woods. I live in a

cul-de-sac neighborhood in the Midwest, surrounded by dense woods with my husband and our 12-year-old son.

We've lived here for over a year, and up until the horrifying experience I'm going to share,

we've really enjoyed it. We have two dogs

and we regularly take them out back into the woods for walks and it's their oasis. There's a trail

that we walk along and the best thing is there is usually no one back there. It's very peaceful and

quiet. Occasionally we'll see another neighbor, but for the most part,

it's like we have the forest to ourselves. Over the past year, I've become very familiar with the woods,

going out almost every day with my husband, our son, and the dogs. We always typically go out

together before dinner. Last month, it was a Friday. My son was at school, husband was at work.

My son was going to his friend's house after school, and my husband said he wasn't going to be home

until after dark. And it was beautiful out. 70 degrees, sunny, one of the last warm days of the year,

and I wanted to take advantage of it. My dogs were giving me the

we want to go for a walk look. And although I had never gone out on the trail alone, I thought

today we would make an exception. I had been out there so many times. I didn't really feel like it was a

big deal. So we set out for a midday walk and boy was it nice out. My dogs

were loving it. We got about a mile into the woods and suddenly my dogs stopped in their tracks,

turning their gaze to the left. Surrounding us, there was nothing but trees, dense woodland.

I turned in that direction, thinking they saw a squirrel or something, and then I heard it.

The sound of leaves crunching in the distance.
