Summary
It’s Motivation Monday! Today, Les Brown reveals that the secret to being in charge of your destiny already resides within you. He asks you to consider, What are the things you need to learn? What is it you have going on right now that's a real plus for you?
Sadly, Les observes that most people go through life never using the power they have. And if you're not using your talents and abilities, you'll lose them. He invites you to recognize that you've got some talents and skills. Become an active force in your life and keep on polishing your talents and abilities.
Finally, Les contends that you have enormous power to create all things you want in your life. Remember, life has no limitations except for the ones you make.

| 0:00.0 | Yo, today's QLDS, there is no defense against an excellence that meets a pressing public need. |
| 0:09.0 | Here we go. |
| 0:35.0 | Welcome back to the quote of the day show. I'm your host, Sean Crox and a shot, Crox and calm. Thank you so much for tuning in. We've got less brown on this show today. That's less brown two weeks in a row, two Mondays in a row. |
| 0:49.0 | And he is kicking off a three day series on a very important topic. They're going to be talking about developing your skills. I like to post about this in my Instagram stories pretty frequently developing your skills. |
| 1:03.0 | What are your skills? Are you working on your craft? Are you trying to become better or becoming more valuable with your skills? You know, one of my favorite stories about this that I posted was maybe two weeks ago. |
| 1:16.0 | It was an interview with the great economist Thomas all and the man asked him said, uh, something to the effect of what advice would you give your younger self? |
| 1:31.0 | What advice would you give to a young African American person who wants to make it in this country? And Thomas all says, |
| 1:41.0 | I tell them the same thing. I tell everybody develop a set of skills that people are willing to pay for. |
| 1:48.0 | And that's it. There is opportunity everywhere. Like Dr. Dennis Kimbrose says where there are people, there are opportunities because where there are people, there are problems and people need solutions to their problems. |
| 2:00.0 | The way that you're going to solve these problems is through your skills. You have to develop your skills. You know, I have plenty of skills. I can write, I can teach, I can speak, I can sell, I can market, I can coach. |
| 2:12.0 | But we have people who don't have any skills and they're wondering like, why is my life going like this? Why is it going this way? It's because we're not willing to be committed to our crafts. |
| 2:25.0 | You know, Tom Bill, you tomorrow talks about how you have to be willing to accept the fact that right now you are not good enough. |
| 2:33.0 | At the thing that's going to create the life that you want, you're just not good enough yet. You got to develop it. |
| 2:40.0 | On Wednesday, Simon Sinek talks about the instant gratification. |
| 2:45.0 | Kind of getting ahead of myself here. I should be telling you about this on Tuesday and Wednesday, but instant gratification. You know, if you're going to develop your skills, you're going to have to sit down alone by yourself. |
| 2:57.0 | And you're going to have to do that every day for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours, right? |
| 3:05.0 | And over that time, you get better, but people generally don't want to sit down for the hours it takes to develop skills. They rather be doing something else that gives them instant gratification that gives them a dopamine hit. |
| 3:19.0 | It's not going to work. |
| 3:22.0 | So I just implore you to get serious about your skills. Find out what it is that you want to do. What is your gift? What is your talent? What is your service? What is your solution that you're going to provide to other people and be willing to sit every day by yourself becoming great at it? |
| 3:40.0 | Let's brown coming up. |
| 3:43.0 | So I want you to think about your ideas. All of us have ideas and things that we have not acted on. I want you to think about them right now. |
| 3:52.0 | And tell Simpson said that an idea should be like a pin, you know, that a pin that you set on and you jump up right away to do something with it. So I don't want you to just think about it. I want you to leave here. I want you to jump and do something with it. All right. |
