Starving people rioted all over the world in protest of rapidly rising food prices.

First, some backgrounds so you can better understand the major significance of the House

of Representatives passing the Jubilee Act this week.

In the last part of the 20th century, Western banks and multilateral lending institutions

literally went wild.

They lent huge sums of money to corrupt right-wing dictators and military hunters.

Whatever the stated purpose of the loans, the Lenders knew that the money wasn't going

to be used to benefit the people of those nations, quite the opposite.
